Bone Meal Whitened Dog Droppings

Before the 1990s, commercial dog food often contained large amounts of calcium-rich meat and bone meal that dogs could not fully absorb. The excess calcium passed through their bodies, and as the droppings dried in the sun, water evaporated and left behind a chalky white mineral coating. White dog poop became far less common after manufacturers reduced their use of cheap bone meal in pet food.
