Captain Planet Enforced Sustainable Merchandise

When the environmental cartoon Captain Planet and the Planeteers debuted in 1990, its creators requested that all merchandise based on the series be produced sustainably. Manufacturers overhauled their production methods to create recycled and recyclable products. In 1991, series producer Barbara Pyle also helped establish the Captain Planet Foundation, which continues to support young people working on environmental projects worldwide.
