Singapore’s Germany Gambling PSA Backfired

During the 2014 World Cup, the Singaporean government aired an anti-gambling PSA where a boy complained that his father had bet all his savings on Germany winning. The National Council on Problem Gambling intended the ad to warn families about the harm caused by gambling addiction. The campaign backfired after Germany actually won the tournament.
