In 2019, doctors in the Czech Republic successfully delivered a baby girl 117 days after her mother suffered a severe stroke and was declared brain dead. Medical staff maintained the mother's bodily functions with life support while carefully monitoring the pregnancy and supporting the developing fetus. The baby was delivered by cesarean section after reaching a viable stage of development. Following the birth, doctors disconnected the mother's life support, concluding one of the longest documented pregnancies sustained after maternal brain death.
