In 2016, a 32-year-old Brazilian woman received a uterus transplant from a 45-year-old deceased donor who had died from a stroke. Five months later, doctors found no signs of rejection, ultrasound scans were normal, and the woman was menstruating regularly, allowing previously fertilized embryos to be implanted. She became pregnant and, in 2017, gave birth to a healthy baby girl by cesarean section, marking the first successful birth from a uterus transplanted from a deceased donor.
