Anabaptists Rejected Infant Baptism Doctrine

In the 16th century, Christians known as Anabaptists rejected infant baptism and argued that only adults could freely choose to be baptized. This belief put them at odds with both Catholic and Protestant authorities, who considered infant baptism a fundamental religious practice. Because of their views, Anabaptists faced widespread persecution across Europe. Many were imprisoned, exiled, or executed for refusing to abandon their beliefs.
