In 1905, at age 26, Albert Einstein published a set of papers that transformed modern physics. One explained light as particles and later helped win him the Nobel Prize, another helped confirm the existence of atoms, and another introduced special relativity. That same year, his work also led to the famous mass-energy idea behind E=mc^2.
