Marie Curie Carried Radium Vials

Marie Curie reportedly kept vials of radium in her pockets and near her bed because she liked their glow. At the time, scientists did not yet understand the full danger of long-term radiation exposure, and Curie spent years handling radioactive materials directly. More than 80 years after her death, her remains and personal belongings still carry radioactive contamination, with her body sealed in a lead-lined coffin.
