In 1951, American radiochemist Natalie Carbone Mangini became the first female scientist at Westinghouse after the company misread her resume and gave her an interview expecting a man. When she showed up, she still got the job. She went on to work on the world’s first full-scale atomic reactor and the first nuclear submarine.
