Lions Once Roamed Ancient Greece

Lions once ranged across most of Africa, large parts of Asia, and even into parts of Europe, including areas as far as Hungary and Ukraine. Historical accounts also describe lions as native and common in ancient Greece. Their modern range is only a fraction of that former territory.
