St Bees Man Stayed Preserved

In 1981, workers discovered the body of a man in a vault near the priory church at St Bees in Cumbria, England. He had been wrapped in a lead sheet, which helped preserve his nails, stomach contents, pinkish skin, and even liquid blood found in his chest. Researchers identified him as Anthony de Lucy, a knight who died in 1333, though not in the Crusades.
