Expecto Patronum Means Await Protector

Expecto Patronum,' the spell used to summon a Patronus in Harry Potter, roughly translates from Latin as "I await a protector." The phrase fits the charm’s purpose, since the caster calls on a protective magical guardian. In the series, that guardian appears as a Patronus and helps defend against Dementors.
