Hanshan Wrote Sutra In Blood

In 1577, Chinese Buddhist monk Hanshan Deqing decided to copy the entire Avatamsaka Sutra, one of the longest Buddhist sutras, using his own blood. When the Empress heard about the project, she gave him golden pages to write on. Hanshan spent two years completing the massive devotional work.
