Earth’s Last Total Eclipse Countdown

The final total solar eclipse will happen in roughly 600 million years, when the Moon has drifted about 30,400 km farther from Earth and the Sun’s apparent size has effectively gained the upper hand as the Sun slowly grows. At that point, even the biggest “supermoon” will no longer look large enough to fully cover the Sun, so eclipses will become annular rather than total.
