All the gold ever mined on Earth came from meteorites, not from Earth’s core, because early in Earth’s history most gold sank into the forming core when the planet was molten. Later, a “late veneer” of asteroid and meteorite impacts delivered fresh supplies of gold and other heavy metals to the mantle and crust, where geology could concentrate them into ore deposits humans can actually mine.
