The lowest sound ever recorded is 57 octaves below middle C, and it comes from a black hole in the Perseus galaxy cluster. Astronomers linked it to pressure waves rippling through the cluster’s hot gas, which they translated into an ultra-low B-flat that sits far below human hearing.
