Val Kilmer Resented Top Gun

American actor Val Kilmer was not initially interested in auditioning for "Top Gun" in 1986 and only did so because his agent pushed him. He read his audition lines "indifferently" and expected the whole thing to go nowhere. Instead, he learned he had won the role of Tom "Iceman" Kazansky and felt disappointed rather than excited.
