There is a cave in Kenya that has been linked to a virus with an 88% mortality rate, and it is currently open to the public. Kitum Cave, inside Mount Elgon, became infamous after two visitors later died from Marburg virus disease in 1980 and 1987. Scientists later investigated the cave because Marburg virus is associated with Egyptian fruit bats, which can carry it without looking sick. The cave was closed for a short time after the deaths, but it later reopened to tourists with guides.
