Y-Chromosomal Adam’s Surviving Line

Genetic research points to a man called "Y-Chromosomal Adam" as the most recent male ancestor from whom all living men inherited their Y chromosome through an unbroken paternal line. A 2014 report summarized new research estimating that he lived about 208,300 years ago. That doesn't mean he was the only man alive then; his paternal line is the only one that survived.
