For Tim Burton’s 1989 film "Batman," Warner Bros. first offered the role of Joker to Robin Williams, and he showed interest but needed to rearrange his schedule before he could lock it in. The studio ultimately cast Jack Nicholson instead, and later accounts say Warner used the Williams talks as leverage to push Nicholson into signing. Williams felt played by the switch and reportedly demanded an apology from the studio afterward.
