Jeremy Wade Ran Out of Monsters

River Monsters wrapped up in 2017, with Season 9 promoted as the final season and a last special run following after that. By the time it ended, the show’s own logic had basically boxed it in: host Jeremy Wade had already chased down and caught so many of the world’s biggest, most infamous freshwater fish that there was not much left to build new episodes around. The series ended because it ran out of truly new “river monster” targets to hunt.
