Coca-Cola’s Touch-Recognizable Bottle

Coca-Cola’s Touch-Recognizable Bottle

As Coca-Cola spread across the United States in the early 1900s, imitators kept copying its name, labels, and bottle design to confuse customers. In 1915, the company responded by asking glass makers to create a bottle so distinctive that people could recognize it by touch in the dark or even when it lay broken on the ground. That push led to the famous contour bottle, which gave Coca-Cola a shape competitors could not easily imitate.
