Spider-Man Musical Lost $60 Million

When Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark opened on Broadway, it carried a staggering $75 million price tag, the largest production budget in Broadway history. The musical ran for more than three years, but the show never earned back that enormous cost despite all the money and publicity behind it. When it closed in 2014, the production had become one of Broadway’s most famous financial disasters. Investors reportedly lost about $60 million.
