Dinosaurs Probably Never Reached 300

Older dinosaur books sometimes suggested that giant dinosaurs could survive for 300 years because researchers pictured them as slow-metabolism reptiles, more like huge crocodiles or turtles. Later studies of dinosaur bone growth changed that picture by showing that many dinosaurs grew relatively fast and did not live on such stretched-out reptile timelines. Modern estimates suggest that even the biggest dinosaurs probably lived for decades rather than centuries, with large sauropods often placed closer to something like 70 or 80 years.
