Hadrosaurus Site Was Lost Twice

In 1858, lawyer and fossil enthusiast William Parker Foulke excavated a dinosaur skeleton in Haddonfield, New Jersey, at a marl pit on the Hopkins farm. The bones were later named Hadrosaurus foulkii, and the find became the first relatively complete dinosaur skeleton discovered in North America. After the excavation, the exact site slipped out of public memory, fell into neglect, and eventually turned into a trash-strewn dumping area. Then in 1984, Boy Scout Christopher Brees tracked it down for an Eagle Scout project and helped restore one of the most important dinosaur sites in American history.
