The 1982 Gandhi movie holds the Guinness World Record for the most film extras in a single scene, using over 300,000 people. The record came from the film’s funeral sequence, where over 200,000 volunteers joined the shoot and another 94,560 contracted performers filled out the crowd. Director Richard Attenborough staged it on Delhi’s Rajpath, and most paid extras received a small fee equivalent to about 40 pence.
