Jupiter’s Lightning Burial Spot

In ancient Roman religion, most people expected cremation, but a lightning death triggered a different ritual. Romans treated the strike as a terrifying sign of divine wrath, and they linked that power specifically to Jupiter. Priests, called bidentales, burned the scorched earth and any remains in a hole at the exact spot where the lightning hit.
