Patient TN, a former doctor, became completely blind after two strokes destroyed both sides of his visual cortex, the part of the brain responsible for conscious vision. Despite this, researchers in 2008 guided him through a corridor filled with obstacles, and he navigated it perfectly without a cane or assistance. TN had no awareness of seeing anything, yet his brain still processed visual information in a phenomenon known as blindsight.
