1972 Iran Killer Blizzard

The 1972 Iran blizzard is considered the deadliest blizzard in recorded history. From February 3 to 9, 1972, a series of storms buried large parts of the country under snow, with some areas receiving up to about 26 feet (7.9 meters). Entire rural communities were overwhelmed, and around 200 villages were completely buried under the snow. The disaster killed more than 4,000 people across northwestern, central, and southern Iran.
