Bea Arthur Two Million Painting

A nude painting of actress Bea Arthur sold for nearly $2 million at auction in 2013. The artwork, titled Bea Arthur Naked, was created in 1991 by artist John Currin. Arthur did not actually pose for the painting, which was based on the artist’s imagination rather than a real sitting. Despite that, the unusual portrait of the Golden Girls star attracted huge attention and fetched a remarkably high price at auction.
