Marilyn Monroe JFK Rolex Gift

On May 19, 1962, actress Marilyn Monroe famously sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden during his birthday celebration. That same evening, Monroe reportedly gave Kennedy a Rolex Day-Date watch engraved with the message, “JACK, with love as always from MARILYN, May 29th, 1962.” According to later accounts, Kennedy told an aide to “get rid of it” shortly after receiving the gift. The watch later surfaced decades afterward and was eventually sold at auction.
