Kelsey the Dog Saved Bob

In 2016, a 64-year-old man in Michigan named Bob slipped in the snow outside his farmhouse on New Year’s Eve while walking about 15 feet to get firewood and broke his neck. Unable to move and trapped in freezing temperatures, he lay helpless in his backyard. His 5-year-old Golden Retriever named Kelsey stayed on top of him for warmth and repeatedly licked his face and hands for nearly 20 hours to keep him conscious. A neighbor eventually found him and rushed him to the hospital, where surgeons operated on his spine, and he later regained the ability to walk again.
