Psychologists call it the end of history illusion when people recognize how much their personality, values, and tastes have changed in the past but assume they will change very little in the future. In a 2013 paper in the journal Science, researchers showed this bias across more than 19,000 people aged 18 to 68 by comparing how much older adults reported changing over the last decade with how much younger adults predicted they would change in the next one.
