Lisa Kudrow Plays Two Buffays

Lisa Kudrow first played the eccentric waitress Ursula Buffay on the sitcom Mad About You. Her performance impressed producers enough that they later cast her as Phoebe Buffay on Friends. Instead of treating them as separate roles, the producers used the casting as a chance to link the series. By making Ursula and Phoebe twin sisters, they set Mad About You and Friends in the same shared TV universe.
