Angela Lansbury One-Take Disney Ballad

In 1991, Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, recorded “Tale as Old as Time” in a single take after first thinking her aging singing voice was not right for the song. She had been unsure about singing it at all and initially resisted the idea. When she finally stepped up to the microphone, she performed the entire track straight through on that first attempt. That one take became the final version used in the film.
