British actress Emilia Clarke survived two life-threatening brain aneurysms and later founded the charity SameYou to help people recovering from brain injuries and stroke. In February 2011, shortly after finishing Season 1 of Game of Thrones, she collapsed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage in a London gym and underwent urgent brain surgery. In 2013, while working on Broadway in New York, doctors found that a second aneurysm had grown, a minimally invasive procedure failed, and she needed immediate open brain surgery.
