The first Stiller to use the sour mash method was James Crow, leading to Old Crow Kentucky Bourbon. The favorite of both Ulysses Grant and Abraham Lincoln during the war, it was referred to as "the only good thing to come out of the South," by Northern troops. You can still buy it today.
