Gig Young Collapses, Wilder Replaces

In 1974, Gig Young was originally cast as the Waco Kid in Mel Brooks's film Blazing Saddles, but his alcoholism caught up with him on the very first day of filming when he collapsed on set from alcohol withdrawal. Brooks fired him after the incident and brought in Gene Wilder to replace him in the role.
