Britney’s “Hit Me” Translation Error

In Britney Spears’s 1998 debut single, "...Baby One More Time," Swedish songwriters Max Martin and Rami thought the word "hit" was American slang for "call," like "hit me up," so they wrote the chorus as a plea for her ex to phone her again.
