The Sargasso Sea in the North Atlantic Ocean is the only sea on Earth not bounded by land, but instead defined by four surrounding currents. Those currents, including the Gulf Stream and the North Atlantic Current, enclose a vast gyre where floating brown Sargassum seaweed gives the water its distinctive character.
