Brad Pitt's Make Right Fiasco

After Hurricane Katrina, Brad Pitt founded the Make It Right Foundation in 2007 to build environmentally friendly homes in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, eventually completing 109 houses with designs from prominent architects. The project struggled with serious construction and material problems, including rot, mold, and structural issues that did not suit the city’s humid climate. By early 2022, researchers reported that only 6 of the 109 homes were in “reasonably good shape,” and the foundation later became the target of lawsuits and a $20.5 million settlement effort over the defective houses.
