Burt Reynolds' Not-So-Heroic Waterfall

While shooting Deliverance in 1972, Burt Reynolds insisted on doing a dangerous waterfall stunt himself instead of letting the production use a dummy. During the stunt, he sustained injuries, lost his clothes in the water, and later awoke in a hospital. When he asked the director how it looked, he was told it just looked like a dummy falling over a waterfall.
