Iris Pigment Can Cause Glaucoma

The pigment in your eye's iris can rub off and break free in a condition called pigment dispersion syndrome, sending tiny pigment granules floating inside the eye. Those granules can clog the eye's drainage pathways, block fluid flow, and raise internal pressure, and in about 10 to 35 percent of people with the condition, this process results in a form of glaucoma called pigmentary glaucoma.
