EDAR Mutation Reshaped East Asians

About 35,000 years ago, a mutation in the EDAR gene arose in East Asia and began reshaping several physical traits. In most East Asians, one DNA unit in this gene differs from the ancestral version commonly carried by Africans and Europeans, and this change is linked to thicker head hair, more numerous sweat glands, distinct tooth shape, and smaller breasts.
