Around 1350 BC, Rib Hadda, king of Byblos, bombarded the Egyptian court with so many unsolicited clay tablet letters that he wore out his welcome with Pharaoh Akhenaten. The pharaoh eventually sent an irritated reply telling him to stop, making one of the earliest recorded cases of diplomatic spam in history.
