On the night of December 30, 2000, 44-year-old Mikio Miyazawa, his wife Yasuko, and their children Niina and Rei were murdered inside their home in Tokyo, Japan. Investigators believe the intruder entered from a park behind the house, stabbed and strangled the family members, and then stayed inside for hours.
After the murders, he used the family computer, ate ice cream from their freezer, rummaged through belongings, and used the bathroom without flushing, leaving blood and other traces behind. Police recovered the killer's fingerprints, DNA, and clothing, including a pullover he left at the scene, but despite an extensive investigation and a possible physical profile, the Setagaya family murder remains unsolved.
