Bill Murray’s Groundhog Bite Scars

Bill Murray’s Groundhog Bite Scars

During the filming of the 1993 movie Groundhog Day, Bill Murray worked with a real groundhog playing Punxsutawney Phil for the close-up scenes. At one point, the animal bit him twice, sinking its teeth into his finger even through a steel glove meant to protect him. The bites were strong enough to break the skin and leave a permanent mark. Murray has said the scar from those encounters is still visible on his finger today.
