Princess Bride Real On-Set Knockout

Princess Bride Real On-Set Knockout

During the filming of The Princess Bride (1987), Christopher Guest, who played Count Rugen, accidentally knocked out Cary Elwes while shooting their confrontation. Guest was supposed to tap Elwes lightly on the head with the butt of his sword, but he hit him harder than intended, and Elwes dropped unconscious on the spot. The shot of Westley collapsing to the ground made it into the finished film, so his limp fall in that moment is completely real.
