Slavic Romantic Pseudo Deity Inventions

In Slavic folklore studies, scholars use the term "Slavic pseudo-deities" for pagan gods who were basically made up by medieval chroniclers and 19th-century romantics who wanted to give the Slavs a mythology like that of ancient Greece and Rome. Sometimes, medieval Christian writers misunderstood or embellished local customs and names, transforming vague references or poetic phrases into imagined gods. In the 1800s, romantic nationalists eagerly systematized these scraps into a grand pantheon, presenting detailed gods and goddesses who never actually existed in pre-Christian worship.
