In 2015, Martin Scorsese directed a lavish short film called The Audition, reportedly costing around 70 million dollars, to promote a casino in Macau. For the first time in film history, Scorsese brought his two most famous muses, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, together in the same project. The film plays on their shared history with the director, with both actors competing for his attention as they visit the casino. This pricey promotional short became the first film to unite all three heavyweights in a single, scripted collaboration.
